- Humidity: Maintain approximately 35–55% relative humidity, ideally around 40–50%, and avoid sudden changes. Stable humidity helps minimize cracking, warping, and movement of the natural oak.
- Cleaning: Dust regularly with a soft microfiber cloth or soft brush, especially around carved details.
- Deeper Cleaning: Use a slightly damp soft cloth, then dry immediately. Never allow water to remain on the wood or collect inside carvings and joints.
- Protect the Varnish: Avoid bleach, alcohol, ammonia, abrasive cleaners, harsh detergents, and scrubbing pads, which can damage or dull the varnished finish.
- Heat & Sunlight: Keep away from direct heating/AC vents, radiators, and prolonged strong sunlight. Extreme temperature and humidity changes can affect natural wood.
- No Additional Oil or Wax Needed: Because the oak is protected with varnish, wood oils should generally not be applied unless specifically recommended by the manufacturer.
Important: Natural oak is a living material that responds to its environment. Maintaining a stable indoor temperature and humidity is the most important step in preserving your handcrafted mihrab for generations.
